Thanks to the helpful people at the Prasonisi Club I got a 20 minute lift up the coast to Apolokia. It could be argued that Apolakia is even cozier than Katavia. The Amalia hotel (and taverna) is wonderful, and the people so friendly. I never tried any other eateries in this village than the Amalia, there was no need… Best stuffed tomatoes EVER!
Very Cozy Apolakia
Bus to Katavia
2.5 hours by bus might not sound tempting, and it isn’t, BUT it will get you to the southernmost village of Rhodes. There is a hotel in town, the very helpful Prasonisi Club, as well as a couple of good tavernas. E.g the “Penelope” served one of the best Moussakas I have ever had. Seemingly the same recipe as Yannis Home Cooking in Rhodes Old Town.
Home Base
This year I made quite an experiment tour of Rhodes, at least from my point of view. Imagine travelling around the entire island WITHOUT ever driving a car… Could something like that even be possible in this day and age??? More of this entire trip later, for now a post just to acknowledge that every adventurous explorer needs a solid home base. 😉 And as usual I find that in “my” little Camelot in Rhodes Town.
New Rhodes Walks
No less than 7 new walks (15-21) has been added to the Rhodes page!
Pictures from Rhodes
Yet another trip to Rhodes, this time focusing on smaller villages on just that island. I will get into more details here at a later point, but so far, here are the pictures.
Strand Brænderi again
Japanese
More Norwegian Whiskeys
These others that I have tasted are also quite nice, I cannot claim they are very complex, but still pleasant:
Norwegian Whiskey
Yes, they do actually exist. This one is maybe the best one I have tasted so far.
Vibram® Arctic Grip
As you can understand from most of the content on this website I am not a big fan of walking on ice. However, when you live in a country with lots of that crap it is inevitable that you get your feet into it. I have been searching for something to replace my ancient Danish Duckfeet, something which is good for some real walking. I am currently quite impressed how well this stuff works.
This message is NOT in any way sponsored by Vibram (or Merrell, whose winter boots I actually bought). Just spreading the good news…
