The Bailiwick of Guernsey – The Channel Islands<\/h1>\n

A<\/span>lderney is the smallest of the major\u00a0Channel Islands, but even this island has an (extremely small) airport. You can fly here from Guernsey or from Southampton, in a Trislander<\/a>. UPDATE: These ancient small airplanes are now long since retired.<\/p>\n

T<\/span>he island is seriously laid back and cozy, and one of the nicest places I have ever visited.<\/p>\n

E<\/span>ating and drinking in the small capital of St. Anne is an experience in itself, and you will not\u00a0go amiss of lots of local character (and possibly characters).<\/p>\n

\u20221 <\/span>ST. ANNE\u00a0– BRAYE\u00a0BAY – SAYE BAY\u00a0– CORBLETS\u00a0BAY – LONGIS\u00a0BAY – ST. ANNE\u00a0(my total time 3h21; 374a 369d; net walking time 2h29). This is Walk 21 in \/Dillon\/<\/span>. A simple walk, but not far from St. Anne I would recommend not “keeping right” to join the Braye Road, but to continue on a narrow path straight ahead all the way down towards the harbour.<\/p>\n

\u20222 <\/span>ST. ANNE\u00a0– TELEGRAPH\u00a0BAY – ST. ANNE\u00a0(my total time 3h17; 377a 397d; net walking time 2h36). This is Walk 22 in\u00a0\/Dillon\/. A bit more attention to your navigation is needed on this walk. And the book is slightly misleading at points. Towards “Telegraph Tower” I do not think there is a clear cliff path at all, regardless of what I tried I was eventually forced back to the road. Later, to get “close to the airport runway”, instructions are scarce and paths are many, but stay on the major path straight ahead and right-ish, and do not stray left on any path even if they look like very tempting short cuts.<\/p>\n
