MrWalker's Other Good Advice:

Ok, do as I say, not as I do

Things that Walkers should always keep in mind:
• Never take any chances. You should not take another step if it does not feel perfectly safe. This is especially important if you are walking alone. Ideally you should have a couple of walking companions.
• Don't wander off the paths. At least if you don't know exactly what you are doing. Preferably you should only walk along paths that have decent way-marks.
• Respect the conditions you are walking under. Never attempt walks where the conditions does not match your equipment, fitness or map (or vice versa...). If a walk turns out to be too difficult, long or hot, don't hesitate to turn back.
• Don't disturb the local flora and fauna. Local (wild or semi-wild) animals like goats may panic if you push them into a corner. Walk slowly to give them time to react sensibly. If possible, walk around them. They do not come trampling all your dinner table when you are having a relaxed meal do they? Also the local plant-life may be vulnerable.
• Don't litter! This should go without saying, really. Even if the locals may not always respect the nature that surrounds them, you should!
• Bring enough water! Did you hear that? BRING ENOUGH WATER!!!
